WIFE was born of three Los Angeles based artists: Jasmine Albuquerque, Nina McNeely, and Kristen Leahy. WIFE combines live contemporary dance with interactive projected animations/videos and original music. This new work, “Abaddon,” will be documented in Native Strategies, a biannual journal and platform for performance in Los Angeles, for their next issue and the forthcoming book that is being compiled as part of their 5-year project. “Abaddon” will run approximately 45 minutes long, and will include original music, sets, lighting, costumes, and interactive video projections.  The piece will be scored by four Los Angeles composers  Dorian Wood (who will also be performing live), Oscar Santos, Rodrigo Amarante, and Robbie Williamson, and danced by seven characters, including the three members of WIFE.  The performance is inspired by 19th century ghost stories and the origins of theatrical lighting tricks such as magic lanterns and the very first projectors.  ”Abaddon” explores themes of madness, haunting, paranoia, magic, guilt, and possession.
