This is a very rare occasion—the West Coast premiere of Marie Losier’s luminous documentary The Ballad of Genesis & Lady Jaye—two of the most advanced superhumans Swoon has ever had the pleasure of knowing, whose romance ranks among the most beautiful love stories of all time. We paid tribute to Lady Jaye in Swoon 4 in the wake of her tragic sudden death in October 2007. We greatly look forward to seeing their love story come to life again in Marie Losier’s film—screening tonight only in LA at the REDCAT Downtown at 7 PM!
Advance tickets ($13) are sold out but you can show up before the rush line opens at 6, or come back at 9 for Genesis’ latest musical project, Thee Majesty. Thee Majesty Performance
Thee Majesty will play a full set of their ambient soundscapes with spoken word performed by radical pioneering musician and artist Genesis Breyer P-Orridge (Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV). Genesis is the subject of the documentary THE BALLAD OF GENESIS AND LADY JAYE and will be joined by collaborators avant-garde guitarist Bryin Dall (Hirsute Pursuit, 4th Sign of the Apocalypse and A Murder of Angels) and percussionist Edley ODowd (Psychic TV and Toilet Boys). This rare performance promises to combine poetry of a transgender creation story, music improvisation and hypnotic loops with blistering noise into a disorienting lullaby that is not to be missed.
